A few colleagues claimed to be able to lose weight walking at home and get great results through it. So, for the sake of this blog we decided to dig a little deeper into it and find out how effective it can actually be. If I’m honest – I was a little skeptical at first! I’m a runner by heart and I try to get a decent amount of miles under my belt every week. Even when I’m completing long distances I still struggle at times to reduce the desired amount of weight. So is it possible to lose weight walking at home and if so how effective is it? Let’s take a look…..
The Power of DVD
When I quizzed the colleagues further about their attempts to lose weight walking at home they suddenly admitted to a little outside help. Apparently there are multiple DVD’s out on the market that teach you the home fitness process we are covering. The problem here is that we did not have one available when writing this post so we’ve had to rely on the information relayed by them instead!
Starting The Day off
Getting up in the morning and having a positive feeling or outlook is crucial to getting a number of things done. If you can get in the habit of walking around the home every morning then this is a great
start to the day!
It’s all about getting your metabolism moving at the correct time of the day. If you sign up for a fitness forum ( which we highly recommend you do! ) then you will meet like minded people. These members will help you challenge one another and reach your goals in record time. You’ll be surprised at how many other people lose weight walking at home so see how many you can find online!
What About The Gear?
Well there are a number of ways you can approach this method of losing weight. Before we get into that I should point out that shoes are basically everything when it comes to this weight loss method. If you want to lose weight walking at home you must make sure you own a pair of shoes that you are comfortable in wearing.
On top of this you may want to purchase a good quality walking belt and stretch bands. Many people have indicated to me that using dumbbells is a key factor to lose weight walking at home. Don’t go for the heavier variety obviously but go for a pair that feel comfortable and mildly challenging in your hands!
Well the most obvious benefit if you choose to lose weight walking at home is the price – forget the healthy gym charges or the expensive outdoor running shoes because this method can be NO-COST!
If you have the mindset and control to implement a healthy diet into this weight loss program then you could see dramatic effects when walking for as little as 30 minutes a day! There are obvious advantages with avoiding the threat of injury to – start of at a low pace you enjoy and build up slowly over time.
If you have a garden area then this is perfect for a sunny or fine day – get out there and enjoy the exercise ( may look a little amusing to the neighbors though! ).
